Boko Haram insurgents appear to gain momentum over the combined armed forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Although recent development is suggestive of some progress on the part of the Nigerian military but there still is a major work to do both on the part of the government and the military. BH which started as small insurgent group has evolved into a full blown terrorist organization.
It appears the Nigerian government is not doing enough to contain the excesses of this group and if this is allowed to go on especially as the country approaches the 2015 general elections; it can only be left to be imagined what the fate of this country would turn out to be.
Nigerians are agitated about the status quo. Some even fear that this insurgency might threaten the sovereignty of this great nation while some predict it might culminate into a religious cataclysm. All these are however speculations based on individual viewpoint.
It is utter insult to the government of this country for BH - a small illegitimate group that is less than 0.1% of the population of Nigeria, to hold a state to battle, capture towns and massacre their people, hoist their illegal flag and still brags about going into bloodier battle with the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Nigeria, with all her armed forces, armoury, and power has enough resources to wipe out insurgency but the leaders seem not to foresee the danger that looms. Nigerians, especially the younger generations would not forgive the leaders of this great country if a small terrorist group called Boko Haram or any other illegal group is allowed to break this country up.
In line with the above, do you think the Federal Government is doing enough to contain insurgency? What exactly do you think the Presidency could do to contain the spread of this virus called Boko Haram? Please add your comments below if you really want a positive change for Nigeria.
